In the mid '90's, Electricité de France was faced with the need to upgrade the Cattenom Cooling Tower's efficiency. Seeking a lightweight and durable solution (to reduce loads on existing foundations and withstand severe freeze-thaw cooling in an aggressive environment), EDF chose Ductal®. In 1999, the prefabrication supplied 2,600 pre-stressed Ductal beams and purlins to support a new intermediate refrigeration mezzanine in the Cooling Tower.
