Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge
Lafarge's Portland Cement was used to build this cable stay bridge that crosses the Cooper River.
Details: The longest cable stay bridge in the western hemisphere, the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge opened in Charleston, South Carolina in July 2005. It spans the Cooper River. More than 100,000 tons of cement were used for the bridge's girders, columns, deck and towers—all of it supplied by Lafarge.  Because heat of hydration and color consistency were important considerations, Lafarge provided portland cement from its Charleston Terminal.
